fruits are edible. Everybody collects the fruits and they are eaten all the time that they are available between September and April. Everybody enjoys the fruit even in good times (They must have a pleasant taste and no unpleasant side effects are reported from its consumption.

grows in lowland areas, e.g. the Tekeze River lowlands.
